Policing and Parkinson’s Disease: Encounters, Training, and the Need for Awareness.
This book focuses on the need for Parkinson’s Disease awareness throughout the law enforcement field. People with PD and Police interactions are an important topic that needs to be researched more and impacts the entire community. By providing more awareness for new trainees and sworn officers, encounters with PwP can gain more effective and efficient outcomes. This research-based book will explore encounters between PwP and Police, Academy specific training or lack of and insight from officers currently in the field on PD awareness. It can bring important change throughout academics and police departments throughout the United States and defuse the fear many PwP may feel when encountering police.

When I learned that approximately 1 million individuals are diagnosed in the United States and over 10 million worldwide, I felt that many other journeys needed to be shared. So many inspired me to keep advocating for a cure!
