Many days, I find myself wondering if Mom is watching down on us. Losing my mother—my best friend, my confidante, my guiding light—to Parkinson’s disease has been one of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life. The emptiness left by her absence is hard to put into words. Every day, I feel the void of her laughter, her wisdom, and the warmth of her presence. Yet, even in her physical absence, Mom’s love, strength, and memory continue to shape who I am and guide every step I take.
Parkinson’s disease is relentless, unforgiving, and life-altering—not just for those who live with it, but for the families who love them. Watching Mom’s journey, seeing her struggle to maintain independence, witnessing her courage in the face of such an unforgiving illness, taught me lessons about resilience, compassion, and the power of hope that I carry with me every day. Her spirit continues to inspire me, reminding me that even in the darkest moments, love and perseverance can create light.
Though she is no longer here in body, her essence lives on in every act of kindness, in every memory shared, and in every voice raised for Parkinson’s awareness. It is in her honor that I dedicate myself to advocating tirelessly for those affected by this disease. I speak, I write, I organize, and I fundraise—not just to remember her, but to ensure that families facing Parkinson’s today know they are not alone, that their loved ones are seen, and that hope remains alive.
TogetherForSharon® was born from this love and loss—a mission to give a voice to those impacted by Parkinson’s disease, to shine a light on the challenges they face, and to advocate for research, awareness, and ultimately a cure. My commitment is unwavering, because every story matters, every life matters, and every family deserves hope. In memory of my mother, Sharon, I continue to honor her courage, her generosity, and her enduring love by fighting to make a difference for those living with Parkinson’s today and tomorrow.
