PD Avengers A Call to Action: Where’s the PD Plan? NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION IS WEDNESDAY!

Dear U.S.-based PD Avengers members,

We fought hard to win the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act. Now we need to make sure it actually turns into action by holding out lawmakers accountable. Tomorrow, Wednesday, December 10th is a National Day of Action.

Quick background

The National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act became law on July 2, 2024, after overwhelming bipartisan support (407–9 in the House; unanimous in the Senate). The law requires a coordinated national plan to prevent, diagnose, treat, and ultimately cure Parkinson’s, with an Advisory Council that includes people with Parkinson’s, care partners, clinicians, researchers, advocates, and federal agencies.

Since then, public progress has stalled:

  • In January 2025, NIH’s Dr. Walter Koroshetz and David Goldstein were named co-chairs of the Advisory Council. Mr. Goldstein has since left government; no replacement has been announced.
  • Applications for Advisory Council members closed February 14, 2025. No public announcement of council members has been made.
  • No further updates on the National Parkinson’s Project have been shared.

December 10: A National Day of Action

On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, we’re asking everyone in the Parkinson’s community to speak up and ask: #whereisthePDplan

Here’s how you can join in:

  • Contact your Members of Congress (email, call, or social media) and ask for an update on the National Parkinson’s Project that they overwhelmingly supported. You can find your Members of Congress online.
  • Post on social media using the hashtag #whereisthePDplan.
  • Share your story with local media or online, especially if you have existing contacts.

Talking Points

PD Advocate Allie Signorelli has put together talking points for tomorrow to make it easier on you. And here are some customizable social media posts.

We already showed Congress what this community can do when we helped pass the Act. Now we need to make sure the plan moves from paper to progress.

Please share freely.
