In 2019, Dr. Larry Grogin was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease—news that might have stopped many, but instead ignited a new chapter of service. Each year, approximately 90,000 people in the United States receive the same diagnosis. Rather than allowing Parkinson’s to shrink his world, Larry chose purpose and movement—for himself and for those who cannot.
In partnership with the Davis Phinney Foundation, a nationally respected nonprofit (501(c)(3)) founded in 2004 by Olympic medalist Davis Phinney, Larry will run 100 marathons in 100 consecutive days, crossing the country from Montvale, New Jersey to Los Angeles, California, from March 24 through July 2, 2026. This historic run will raise awareness and critical funding for programs that help people with Parkinson’s live well today.
Importantly, donations raised through this effort will go directly to people living with Parkinson’s to help ensure they can continue to move. Support will be used to provide gym memberships, exercise and movement classes, transportation to and from programs, and necessary athletic apparel—removing financial and logistical barriers that often prevent people with Parkinson’s from staying active. For those living with Parkinson’s, movement is not optional—it is medicine.
Larry lives by the guiding philosophy that: “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.”
