My mother loved Barry Manilow’s Music.

My mother loved Barry Manilow’s Music.

We had the joy of seeing him live together in both New York and Florida, moments that became cherished memories for us. His music wasn’t just something we listened to—it became woven into the fabric of our lives. Through every season—the joyful highs, the quiet in-betweens, and the incredibly difficult days—his songs were always there, steady and comforting.

As Parkinson’s Disease *progressed, I made it a point to keep his voice present in our home. Whether softly playing in the background or filling the room, I held onto the hope that it might bring her even the smallest smile, a flicker of recognition, or a sense of peace. Sometimes, it did—and those moments meant everything.

One of the most meaningful memories of my life was our mother-son dance at my wedding. We danced to his music, and in that moment, Parkinson’s faded into the background. It didn’t define us. It didn’t interrupt us. It couldn’t touch the love we shared. That moment—frozen in time—now lives on as the cover of my book, “A Son’s Journey”, because it represents something far greater than illness. It captures connection, resilience, and love that endures.

Music has a way of reaching places that words and medicine sometimes cannot. For my mom, Barry Manilow’s voice was a bridge—to joy, to memory, to herself.

Thank you, Mr. Manilow, for giving my mom—and our family—light, comfort, and joy, even in the darkest moments.

Never forget. 🤍
