A Journey of Hope: Returning to the Unity Walk for Parkinson’s Awareness

For the third year in a row, we had the incredible honor of attending the Michael J. Fox Foundation Unity Walk 2026 in Central Park, New York City—and each year, the experience somehow becomes even more meaningful.

There is something truly powerful about being surrounded by thousands of individuals who all share one common purpose: advancing Parkinson’s awareness and working toward a cure. From the moment we arrived, the energy was undeniable. It was a blend of excitement, unity, and deep purpose—a reminder that none of us are alone in this fight.

This event is not just a walk. It is a gathering of advocates, families, caregivers, researchers, and supporters who come together to honor loved ones, share stories, and push forward the mission of change. It’s about reconnecting with familiar faces who have become like family over the years, while also welcoming new voices into this growing community of advocacy.

This year, we proudly attended as part of TogetherForSharon®, a mission rooted in love, memory, and unwavering determination. In memory of my mother, Sharon, we continue to raise awareness and advocate for hope in the fight against Parkinson’s disease. Her journey is the reason this work continues, and every step taken at the Unity Walk is a step taken in her honor.

What makes this experience so impactful is the reminder that advocacy goes beyond awareness—it is about action. It is about standing shoulder to shoulder with others who understand the challenges, the heartbreak, and the resilience required in this journey. It is about supporting research, amplifying voices, and ensuring that Parkinson’s disease remains at the forefront of conversations until a cure is found.

Walking through Central Park, surrounded by a sea of support, you feel something bigger than yourself. You feel hope. You feel strength. You feel the collective determination of a community that refuses to give up.

As we reflect on this year’s walk, one thing remains clear: this mission is ongoing. The fight does not end when the event is over—it continues in our daily efforts, our conversations, and our commitment to advocacy.

We walk for those we have lost.
We walk for those still fighting.
And we walk for a future where Parkinson’s no longer impacts lives.

Together, we will keep moving forward.
