Spinal Cord Stimulator Update
The SCS trial went well, and after having four failed low-back surgeries, I’m feeling very hopeful.
During the trial, it took a few days to really understand whether it was helping. My usual low-back pain was essentially gone, but the discomfort seemed to move toward the middle of my back. At first, that was actually worse, but thankfully it gradually faded.
I used Boston Scientific for the trial, and based on the results, I’m scheduled to have the permanent SCS implanted in mid-September.
I’m excited, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous too. The permanent procedure involves the leads/paddle, and naturally I have questions about recovery, how it will feel, and especially whether I’ll eventually be able to run and get back to doing the things I love.
After everything my back has been through, I’m just grateful to have another option and hopeful that this can give me a better quality of life.
One step at a time.
