Memories… something Parkinson’s disease will never take from me.

Memories… something Parkinson’s disease will never take from me.

I choose to remember my mother—my best friend—for the incredible and amazing person she will always be. Despite her 18-year battle with Parkinson’s, we shared so many beautiful moments. Some days, those memories feel clouded by the later years and the weight of the disease, but they are still there. Mom her her dog, Baron…

I miss her more than words can explain. She was a light in the darkness, always there for me—24/7. Even six years later, not a moment goes by that I don’t think about calling her, or wonder what she’s watching so we could talk about it right after.

When we lost her at just age 69, a part of me left with her. And while I try every day to hold onto the better memories and keep moving forward, it’s not easy. The grief is still there. The love is still there.

There is so much more I wish we had time to say, to share, and to remember—together.
