Today I had the honor to speak to and receive a 2026 Proclamation for Parkinson’s Disease Awareness, Palm Beach, Florida in memory of my mother, Sharon.
We LOVE this community. I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you for the past six years—for helping ensure my mother is never forgotten because of Parkinson’s disease. She lives on through all of us, and together we will keep fighting until Parkinson’s no longer affects anyone—today, tomorrow, and in the future.
I will stand by your side day and night. You can always count me in.
Sharon’s Son,
George

Speech: Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Proclamation – Palm Beach County
Good morning, and thank you.
I am deeply honored and grateful to Palm Beach County for this proclamation recognizing Parkinson’s Disease Awareness. On behalf of the Parkinson’s community—patients, caregivers, families, advocates, and researchers—thank you for seeing us, supporting us, and standing with us.
Parkinson’s disease affects nearly one million Americans and millions more worldwide. But behind every statistic is a person—a parent, spouse, grandparent, friend—whose life has been changed by this disease. Parkinson’s does not just affect those diagnosed; it impacts entire families and communities.
Numbers of those diagnosed will rise from 1 million today to over 15 million in only 15 years.
For me, this work is personal. My mother, Sharon, lived with Parkinson’s, and her strength, grace, and love continue to inspire everything we do through TogetherForSharon®. What began as a way to honor her has grown into a global community of more than 80,000 people united by hope, support, and the shared belief that no one should face Parkinson’s alone.
This proclamation is more than a symbolic gesture—it is a call to action. It reminds us of the importance of awareness, early diagnosis, research funding, caregiver support, and compassion. It reminds us that together—through advocacy, education, and collaboration—we can improve quality of life today while fighting relentlessly for a cure tomorrow.
To the County Commissioners and leadership of Palm Beach County, thank you for your commitment to public health and for amplifying the voices of those affected by Parkinson’s disease. Your support sends a powerful message of inclusion, understanding, and hope. Special thanks to Commissioner Sachs, Janet and the staff, they are always there for me and our family year-round.
We will continue this fight—for our loved ones, for future generations, and for a world without Parkinson’s.
Thank you for this honor, and thank you for standing with us.
