An interview with Anthony Sanders: Shaken by God
Biography
My childhood wasn’t anything special. I grew up poor due to my father’s bad decisions. He set me on a ruff path that spiraled into drug and alcohol abuse from 17 to 25. I did this to deal with the pain in my mind and soul.
Can you tell me more about your Advocacy?
I show people you don’t have to wait to die to achieve your goals. But I only do this through gym videos on tik tok. Along with spreading God’s word in my personal life, proving God can use us all.
What is your passion and how did you get involved in Parkinson’s awareness and hope for a cure?
I strive to show God ability to build you up, I have since I came to Him. When I got diagnosed with Parkinson’s it seems to have made the message sound like advocacy.
What type of goals do individuals with Parkinson’s have when seeing your Advocacy?
I honestly couldn’t say, I’m sharing with you to try and share hope.
What type of training and how long are the programs?
I have no formal training, just God’s calling
What effect can your Advocacy have on an individual with Parkinson’s?
It’s easy to get depressed, like life is over, especially when you’re young like me (27), Seeing an advocate makes it feel less crazy
What events do you participate in?
None, I stumbled into this.
How does this also assist the caregivers?
Knowledge is both power and confidence. Seeing what’s coming without spiraling on Google is a huge help.
How can someone get in touch? What is your website?
Tik tok – @bigslime890
In your opinion, what is the key to effective advocacy?
Visibility, even if it’s a small group, they need to see you.
What other activities do you undertake to help improve and support your daily living Eg exercise and alternative remedies?
I exercise five days a week, but I have to take it easy around that or any other activity I do.
Why should people who don’t have Parkinson’s care about this?
Parkinson’s can be genetic, but I can come out of nowhere. You could get it without trying.
Have you had any family members or relatives affected by Parkinson’s disease?
Yes, my great aunt.
If you had one song that would tell us more about you or represent your life, which song would it be?
God can use a broken man- Jason Crab
If you had one final statement or quote you could leave for the Parkinson’s community, what would it be?
Live, because life doesn’t end when you stop breathing it stop when you stop living.
