The 2026 APDA Optimism Walk, Palm Beach, Florida…. Lifechanging for me…
There are moments when I still feel alone — even with all of you beside me and so many around the world who I now consider family in this fight for a Parkinson’s cure in memory of my mother, Sharon.
Today reminded me why I will never stop advocating until there is a cure — for those battling Parkinson’s today and for your families who walk this journey with you.
I had the honor of attending the American Parkinson Disease Association Palm Beach County, Florida Walk for Optimism. I was surrounded by love, longtime friends, and new family united in this fight. Being there in person — the hugs, the shared stories, the deeply personal journeys — and ensuring my mother is never forgotten… that is what this mission is about. this was my 6th (sixth) Optimism walk since mom passed on 1/1/2020 due to PD.
The individuals who worked tirelessly, as they always do, to put this walk together are simply incredible and inspiring. Desirae, Tara, Jean, Amy, Rosa and so many others — I owe you more than words can express. You have been there for me 24/7, truly. Allowing us to be part of this special day, and even honoring our family with an award recognizing our donation in support of your mission, means more than I can say.
To the entire APDA family nationwide — from CEO Chambers, Dr. Gilbert, Anne Hubbard, Eloise, and to every APDA chapter in every state — we send our love. To every community across the country, we are fighting right beside you.
The walk may have ended, but the memories live on. Each day, we meet more individuals, hear more stories, and unite under one shared mission.
I hope we can ensure that those who are still unaware find their way to us and feel empowered to share their journey — because together, our voices are so much stronger.
Sending love and unwavering support always.
I will not rest until you can.
Sharon’s son,
George
