Brooke and Grandma’s Days with Parkinson’s” is a deeply personal and compassionate story inspired by the Ackerman family’s real-life journey with Parkinson’s Disease.

A heartfelt father-and-daughter duo sharing the challenges families face as Parkinson’s Disease reshapes the bond between a grandmother and her granddaughter.

Written to help children better understand the changes they may see in a loved one diagnosed with PD, the book follows the bond between a grandmother, Sharon, and her granddaughter, Brooke, as they share adventures, love, and memories throughout Sharon’s progression with the disease. Told through a gentle storybook format, the narrative explores complex emotions such as confusion, fear, love, and hope—offering young readers reassurance and understanding during uncertain times.
