Please tell me a little about your background and what got you involved with awareness —
Lance A. Slatton was pursuing medical school and already had an established healthcare background working in Cardiac Critical Care while going to college. When his father became severely ill and had to move in with his wife and him it was this caregiving journey that, like for most, was unexpected and unplanned for, he knew that others must be experiencing similar situations. This experience changed the entire trajectory of his career and life.
Can you tell me more about Dementiatlc?
Lance’s family started a home care company in Michigan – Enriched Life Home Care Services which has been named as the #1 home care provider in Michigan for the past 5 years. One of the things that Lance was most passionate about was helping to support families and family caregivers through his job at Enriched Life Home Care Services. He would run and facilitate multiple caregiver support groups, education talks, dementia seminars, fun events, and help sponsor initiatives that communities were passionate about. When COVID started all these events and public gatherings stopped. That is when Lance decided that there must be a way to still reach families – because he knew that even though the facilities and community events stopped that caregiving doesn’t stop.
This is when he researched and developed All Home Care Matters. All Home Care Matters is now the Nation’s Leading Voice in Long-Term Care. All Home Care Matters is an award-winning YouTube Show & Podcast that features some of the world’s leading thought leaders and difference makers.
What is your passion and how did you get involved in dementia awareness and hope for a cure?
My passion originates from his grandmother who was diagnosed (though very late) with dementia and seeing the lack of support and education that was given to the family during their journey and the countless families that he meets daily through his job as a Senior Case Manager for his family’s home care company and throughout the world as host of All Home Care Matters.
What type of goals do individuals with dementia have when working with you in the field?
There is one commonality for all families and their loved ones – more support, understanding, and resources.
What events do you participate in?
I lead multiple Dementia Seminars as a free service to the communities and organizations in Michigan as well as featuring and interviewing the world’s leading experts on All Home Care Matters.
